Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most liftgates have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your liftgate stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your liftgate to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi there I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this custom-fit hatch lift support. This gas strut is going to replace one hatch lift support arm for your 2001 through 2012 Ford Escape, your 2005 through 2011 Mercury Mariner, and your 2008 through 2010 Mazda Tribute. This will work with your factory, or OEM ball fittings. These have the nylon ball socket connectors here that are going to install directly onto those ball fittings so it's gonna be very easy to get this put in place. Our extended length here, from the center of one ball socket to the center of the other is gonna be 21 and 15/16.
The compressed length is gonna be 14 1/4 of an inch. Now, this does feature dampening technology that's gonna provide a nice smooth operation to help eliminate bouncin' and jumping. It's gonna ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions. So whether you're out in the cold, or out in the heat, it will work well for you. This will extend to help hold your hatch open, and then gently compress while you're closin' it to ensure that you're not gonna smash your fingers and that sort of thing.
It does have a nitride coated steel shaft that is gonna be corrosion resistant. So it is going to give you a nice long lasting performance. It does come with a limited lifetime warranty so if you we're to have any issues with it, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. But because this is a custom fit, I think it's gonna do a great job for you making sure that that hatch stays open when you want it to, and giving you just a little bit of resistance as you're closin' it.
